Workers must have a decisive role in creating a workplace worthy of people investing their time, energy, and talents. We, the Duke University Press Workers' Union, believe that we deserve a work community that values justice, equity, and dignity for all Duke University Press (DUP) staff and that we are best equipped to determine our own needs and should have the power to meet them collectively. The purpose of the union therefore shall be to advance the economic interests and to improve the working conditions of its members; to guarantee, as far as it is able, equal employment and advancement opportunity in the industry; and to foster friendly cooperation with all other workers.
